Valley of the Arts Combines Jazz, Art Contest for Kids and Fine Art Walk

Glendale, AZ (PRWEB) March 23, 2008 -- Art and music lovers will get the best of both worlds this spring at Village at Arrowhead Shopping Center, 20040 N. 67th Ave. in Glendale. A gallery style celebration of the arts with original works, giclees and prints from some of the Valley's most prestigious artists will be featured, in addition to the annual Art Contest for Kids from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, April 5th.

Artwork for the fine art walk, organized by Valley of the Arts, will be on display in the shaded areas in front of the stores and will include acrylic, mixed media, watercolor, pastel, oil, pencil drawings, metal, sculpture and photography. Prices for the artwork range from moderate to upscale.

On the same day and time, there will be an Art Contest for Kids. Entry forms will be available at FASTFRAME. Tables and art supplies will be set up for young artists to create their own masterpieces and submit them for judging.

The competition will be judged in four age groups, 1-3, 4-6, 7-9 and 10-12. First place winners in all categories will receive a $25 gift certificate and second place winners will receive a $20 gift certificate. All completed entries will receive a coupon for a free Cold Stone "Kids Zone" cone.

This event is held in conjunction with the five-year anniversary of the opening of the shopping center. As part of this celebration, All That Jazz Concert Series will also kick off March 28 and will continue every Friday through April 25th from 6 to 8 p.m. on the patio of AJ's Fine Foods.

"Since The Village at Arrowhead opened five years ago, the center has provided much more than an upscale shopping experience for the community. "In the past five years tons of food has been collected to benefit the food banks, thousands of dollars of toys and clothing have been donated to the child crisis center, as well as the priceless fun experienced by those who have come to the center to enjoy music, art and family-oriented activities."
